Each child will be allocated a key person when they are offered a place at Muddy Puddles. We will encourage children to have a secure relationship with their key person, who will promote self-esteem and balanced mental wellbeing. All of our key people will be highly responsive to the needs of all children in order to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety while being away from their main carer.
We know that children need to feel love, therefore we will always offer hugs and reassurance in our nursery. Through our approach to childcare, we are confident that all children at Muddy Puddles will develop emotional resilience and high self-esteem.
Your child’s key person will be the one who will collate all the information relevant to your child, their likes/dislikes, family members, routines, what is special to them. They will use this to support the transition from home to nursery and room to room within the nursery as your child grows. The key person will most likely be the person who welcomes you to the setting and provides you will any reassurance required to both you and your child. We would expect them to be the one to carry out most of your child’s care needs including nappy changes, giving cuddles and putting your child to sleep at nap time.
We of course recognise that there will be times where your key person may be absent from the setting, such as when they are on leave or off sick. To ensure that your child is not impacted by this we ensure that each child has a secondary key worker or ‘buddy’ who will have also built a bond with your child so they can seamlessly take over care of your child if or when required. They will also be familiar with your child’s likes and dislikes and as parents you will have been made aware who this person is.
