The Early Years Foundation Stage states that ‘Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met, and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them’ (EYFS 2017) – and Muddy Puddles strive to ensure this is reflected in every way possible during a child’s time at nursery.
At Muddy Puddles Nursery we are always looking for new ways to improve and engage children in physical activities which promote positive health and wellbeing.
Our approach to wellbeing activities are based on age groups, for example, in our baby room we promote tummy time, floor-based play, and activities using water-based play. We only restrict the movements of the children at the appropriate time such as mealtimes – other than this they are free to roam about the room choosing the activities they wish to engage in.
To promote motivation and continued engagement all our rooms, we have different activities throughout the month: alternating play to ensure children maintain engagement. We also make full use of our wonderful outside space to offer the children plenty of room to run around and enjoy being in a secure, safe outside space.
